What children work on in Taekwondo

Stances, blocks, and kicks

The basics give a student specific details to notice: foot position, balance, direction, and control. Getting a movement right takes practice and correction.

Remembering a sequence

Forms, also called poomsae, connect techniques in a set order. Learning a sequence means remembering what comes next while paying attention to the movement itself.

Practicing with other students

Sharing the mat means listening for instructions and leaving room for the people nearby. The class routine gives children a regular setting in which to practice those habits.

Questions before you join

Who joins the kids program?

Kids Taekwondo is for ages 7 to 11. Share any previous martial arts experience when arranging a visit so the school can advise on placement.

How does belt progression work?

Students learn the material for their rank and prepare for testing. Your instructor can explain the required techniques, readiness criteria, testing dates, and fees. A belt is not awarded simply for attending a set number of classes.

Will my child spar in the first class?

Check with the school about the session you are booking. Partner practice, sparring, and equipment requirements depend on the class and the student’s stage of training.

How do we arrange a free first class?

Use the trial or registration option on this page. The school can confirm a suitable class before you travel. Membership choices and terms can be discussed after the visit.
